Problems with New Inkjet Printers
March 6th, 2010 by Michael Patrick Murphy, Owner of the Small Businessman

The world is swimming in computer and electrical problems. I like to joke that China, which makes most of the world’s junk these days, now has all our money, which will soon be worthless, and that I’m okay with that as we in turn have all their junk that will also soon be worthless. Inkjet All-in-One printers produced by manufacturers like Canon, Epson, HP, and Lexmark, are really and technically, modern “gee-whiz” pieces of junk and are a great example of what I’m talking about. Not only do they have a hard time simply functioning, but the companies, measuring their recent economic losses are shipping them with less and less ink. As they run out faster you are forced to buy more of the “gold” like substance. As they lose money on support and returns of the printers, they have to make up these costs somewhere and most are choosing to do it by ripping off consumers. Before buying a new printer from one of these less than stellar companies, be sure to look at the consumer reviews by sorting from worst to best in the comments section. In them, the truth about these pieces of junk will be revealed. The damage to US business in time wasted and monetary losses is phenomenal and easily amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars. The only good that can come out of it is the corporate need to hire more IT folks to fight with the printer manufacturers. We all suffer as American and Chinese businesses rip each other to shreds, proving once again that world socialism causes poor quality goods and services. When you talk to tech support, you might ask what model and brand of printer they use. Can’t hurt, can it?

One Solution: Print to PDF whenever possible and send to clients via email. This will help to force corporations to improve their print quality and costs or become abandoned altogether.
